ILLUSTRATOR. MULTIPASSIONATE. JILL-OF-ALL-TRADES.
As an only child, far out in the country, with few neighbors and even fewer neighbor kids, books were my friends. I wasn't an imaginative child in the way some have imaginary friends and teddy bear tea parties. But I did find myself heavily embedded in the worlds of my favorite authors and illustrators. My "friends" were Beatrix Potter, Mary Blair, and Barbara Cooney. I spent my days with McCloskey's sweet little Sal and Lewis's Pevensies. I was a die hard member of The Baby Sitter's club and survived every harrowing scene R.L. Stine could dream up.
This country life of solitude with bookish friends has heavily influenced my work. I love fantasy and whimsy and connecting to the seasons. You'll find the seasonal, the spiritual, and the whimsical woven into the fabric of my art.
Everything can be made a little more magical with the right pen and ink.
