LET'S BUILD A WATERSHED!

You can make a watershed model indoors or outside, from sticks, rocks, and soil, from clay, a crumpled paper version, or a towering model from plastic containers. Watch the video to see one way to build a watershed model. How you choose to complete this activity is up to you. Be sure to properly dispose of or save materials from your project for reuse when you're finished. Don't forget to record your observations in your scientist notebook.

Review & Dive Deeper

How do you describe a watershed?

How does your community impact your watershed? Where do you think pollutants in your area might come from?

SCIENTIST NOTEBOOK

Let's record some data from our activity. What did you observe during your watershed experiment?

Draw a picture or paste a photo of your watershed model in your scientist notebook. Be sure to label your landforms and make as many notes about what happened during your experiment as you can!
